Haru is a Japanese restaurant located in Karen, just along Karen road. They’ve been in business for over 16 years and are a staple in the Nairobi food scene.
I’ve been here a good amount of times in the recent years mostly because I’m surrounded by people who love sushi. I’m not a sushi fan like that but I do enjoy Japanese cuisine overall so I tend to have their other ‘cooked’ dishes when I visit.

Joto Ramen is the new kid on the block in regards to Ramen spots and I was glad when they finally got a standalone location at the Alchemist because I kept missing their pop-ups! Also, I did not know the alchemist had that much space because Joto Ramen is quite spacious - it opens out at the back of alchemist with lots of seating and the floating red lanterns create a fun vibe be it day or night.

Meso is a fine dining Japanese restaurant located in the Westgate Mall, Westlands. Reservations are not needed but if you’re going as a group-that would be recommended. Prices are on the higher side as well so plan accordingly.
For starters we had popcorn shrimp tempura and pork gyoza. The shrimp was so good! It comes with a chilli mayo which I believe is the best condiment for that dish because I couldn’t stop eating it - or maybe it was my hunger lol, either way - a great choice.
