Connect Coffee Museum
Connect Coffee Museum is Connect Coffee’s interactive establishment located in Karen. A beautiful immersive space that takes you on a historical (and caffeinated) journey through the history of coffee, from bean to cup. As you walk in from the parking lot to the cafe you’ll pass a beautifully manicured coffee farm with a roastery right next to it - assuring you of that farm to table feel - coffee edition.
The part-cafe, part-museum boasts an industrial and minimalist theme throughout from the wrought iron sign at the entrance to the raw brick walls inside the cafe. The ‘unfinished’ yet finished design is more endearing than tacky, it feels intentional because of how well every decor piece, every lighting fixture, every piece of furniture compliments the theme.
They have both outdoor and indoor seating. Being such a big space, you have plenty of options to choose from - I personally prefer to sit outside most of the time because I enjoy dining al fresco. The garden view outside is too stunning to look at from a glass wall anyway.
I came here for lunch and of course for some delicious specialty coffee. The menu here has a lot more options than their other smaller branches and makes for a great breakfast/lunch/dinner date spot. We had the chicken (KSH1200) and the beef panini (KSH1300), a latte (KSH400) and a cappuccino (KSH400), garlic bread (KSH500), a coffee bun (KSH400) and some tiramisu (KSH500).
The paninis were not great. Not even gonna sugarcoat it. They fell very flat, as flat as their appearance and despite being quite a large portion, they weren’t as tasty unfortunately. The garlic bread was so confusing because it had a sweet cream at the centre? Garlic bread is meant to be savoury but this was anything but. The coffee bun was okay and the Tiramisu was perfect! A really good tasty end to a not so great lunch at least.
The coffee is exceptional - I have zero notes on that, I’ve always enjoyed Connect Coffee’s coffee and of course I had to get a bag of both Romeo and Juliet blends for my home brews. Which one do you prefer I wonder? Juliet’s a fave of mine.
The service here is great, the wait staff being very attentive and accommodating but I have to note that if you’re sitting outside, it does take them a while to get to you. I feel they need to structure their floor team better i.e. have a good number ready to serve the outside and an equal number on the inside as well so no one side is left unattended for longer than expected. We took a walk inside to check out the museum which is centrally placed inside the cafe. I love how the exhibit showcases an impressive collection of coffee artefacts and brewing equipment from around the world, illustrating how different cultures have prepared and enjoyed coffee over the centuries.
I love a good museum and I love anything coffee related so this part of Connect Coffee made me very happy and for any coffee enthusiast out there, I’m sure you’ll be highly impressed too.
Connect Coffee museum is a great location for family outings especially on weekends; they have a kids area and the vast gardens also allow for children to run around and play safely. It’s perfect as a work location for those of us who need a change of scenery from home or the office - who doesn’t love a coffee shop vibe environment to work from 👩🏾💻
It’s great for those 1st, 2nd or 3rd coffee dates with friends or someone you’re trying to get to know better (hope they improve on the food though). And it’s an all round great experience for tourists who want a unique experience outside of the National park and Maasai market; a coffee tour within the city is a nice addition to any itinerary.
